From Our Founder:

As an Andover graduate, I have comprehensive knowledge of the benefits of a private school education. Although the years make Commencement a hazy memory, I continuously grow more aware of how valuable my experience was - both in terms of the education and perspective gained and the opportunities it presented.

Like college admissions, a strong SSAT score is a critical element to a private secondary school application. Our SSAT test prep lessons include proven strategies and vocabulary building, content review, and practice. Progress is closely monitored and instruction individualized to bolster the skills and knowledge needed to attain the desired score. By the time test day arrives, our students are confident and prepared on test day, ready to “control” the SSAT and succeed. We have a stellar track record and proud that our students have gone to some of New England’s most prestigious private schools.

I invite you to learn more about our SSAT tutoring. We're outstanding at what we do and welcome the opportunity to engage with your student.

Sincerely,

Curtis Eames, Founder & Lead Instructor

Boosting Academic and Professional Skills

CurtisE ACT Prep enhances success not just with the exam, but also academic and professional skills.

Succeeding on the SSAT is not simply a “brute force” exercise, hammering away at practice tests and learning the exam’s intentional tricks, but requires understanding the tested concepts and skills. CurtisE Learning addresses any skill or knowledge gaps while strengthening test-taking ability. Whether digging into an analogy, analyzing a tricky humanities passage, or tackling a geometry problem, our tutors ensure your student masters the fundamentals that will not only increase SSAT scores but also boost academic confidence and performance. Our students keep their eyes on the ball- the academic transcript is an essential part of the application package, of course.

When to Start SSAT Prep

The general recommendation is to start a year before applications will be submitted. Our goal is to have the student consistently performing at the desired level within a month before the “one that counts” test date. Depending on school application goals, and practice data, it’s advisable to backward plan from your goal.

Some students should consider starting earlier if they:

  • want to get a jumpstart (particularly in mastering all SSAT math concepts and evidence-based reading skills)

  • struggle with testing (our techniques apply to all standardized tests)

  • are heavily scheduled during the summer

If you have questions about your particular student, CurtisE Learning provides FREE CONSULTATION whether or not you sign up for our program.

When to Start ACT Prep

Most students target taking the ACT in the spring of junior year, although there are other dates to retake it before college applications are due. Many students begin ACT Prep during sophomore year, while students start preparing a year or more before their target exam date. Our goal is to have the student consistently performing at the desired level within a month before “the one that counts” test date. Depending on school application goals, and practice test/PreACT data, it’s advisable to backward plan from your score objective.

Generally, starting prep during the summer before junior year is recommended. However, some students should consider starting earlier if they:

  • want to get a jumpstart (particularly in mastering all ACT math concepts)

  • struggle with testing (our techniques apply to all standardized tests)

  • are heavily scheduled during the summer.
