From Our Founder:
As an independent school graduate, I have comprehensive knowledge of the benefits of a private school education. Although the years make Commencement a hazy memory, I continuously grow more aware of how valuable my experience was - both in terms of the education and perspective gained and the opportunities it presented.
Like college admissions, a strong SSAT score is a critical element to a private secondary school application. Our SSAT test prep lessons include proven strategies and vocabulary building, content review, and practice. Progress is closely monitored and instruction individualized to bolster the skills and knowledge needed to attain the desired score. By the time test day arrives, our students are confident and prepared on test day, ready to “control” the SSAT and succeed. We have a stellar track record and proud that our students have gone to some of New England’s most prestigious private schools.
I invite you to learn more about our SSAT tutoring. We're outstanding at what we do and welcome the opportunity to engage with your student.
Sincerely,
Curtis Eames, Founder & Lead Instructor
About the ISEE
The Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) is a widely used standardized test for students applying to private and independent schools. Designed to assess verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, reading comprehension, mathematics, and essay writing, the ISEE helps schools evaluate candidates’ academic readiness. The test is available for different grade levels: Primary (Grades 2–4), Lower (Grades 5–6), Middle (Grades 7–8), and Upper (Grades 9–12). Students can take the ISEE in several formats, including paper-based or computer-based at a test center, or computer-based at home, providing flexible options.

Quantitative Reasoning: Develop problem-solving and numerical reasoning skills.
Reading Comprehension: Learn to analyze passages, identify key ideas, and answer evidence-based questions effectively.
Mathematics Achievement: Strengthen arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and advanced math skills for upper-level students.
Essay Writing: Although unscored, the essay is sent to schools as part of the application, showcasing your student’s ability to organize and express ideas clearly.
More Than Just Test Prep!
At CurtisE Learning, our approach ensures success not only on the ISEE but also in academics. We focus on:
Academic Foundations: Address gaps in knowledge and strengthen core skills in math, reading, and writing.
Critical Thinking: Develop reasoning and analytical skills that extend beyond test-taking.
Confidence Building: Help students feel prepared and self-assured on test day and in their academic pursuits.
Our students don’t just learn to take the test—they gain skills that prepare them for success in their schoolwork and future standardized tests.
When to Start ISEE Prep
We recommend beginning ISEE preparation a year before application deadlines. This allows ample time to master the material, with a goal of consistently performing at the desired level at least one month before the scheduled test date.
Students may benefit from starting earlier if they:
Want a head start on mastering math concepts or improving reading comprehension.
Struggle with standardized testing and need additional time to build skills and confidence.
Have a busy schedule that limits preparation time during the school year.
Not sure when to start? We offer FREE CONSULTATIONS to evaluate your student’s needs and recommend a personalized plan.
