Meet Curtis

Within the first two weeks of his sophomore year at Phillips Academy, Andover, Curtis was one of the few selected to pass out of the year-long Competence in Writing requirement. He then continued to stand out in advanced English electives meant for juniors and seniors, often receiving the only A+ in a class. Through deep study of adapting literature for performance, Curtis caught the acting bug in college and graduated with a degree in Performance Studies from Northwestern University. Although he managed some wins in the wild world of show biz, he felt the pull towards the greatest show on Earth: education.

Besides teaching and tutoring high school English standard and honors classes for over ten years, Curtis teaches Test Prep (SAT, ACT, SSAT, ISEE, MCAS), theatre, public speaking, and Spanish. His college counseling efforts, particularly with his in-demand essay help, have led to 95% of his clients gaining acceptance to their first-choice schools. Curtis is tireless in coaching students toward success and basks in their achievements.

As an instructor, Curtis works to student strengths while developing areas that need improvement; he firmly believes that every student can learn. As a literature analysis and writing stickler, he works hard to improve student skills and ensure college readiness. Curtis' energy and sense of humor make his sessions popular- he portrays academics in a fun light, akin to what he calls the "mental and spiritual gym," where one learns how to learn while maintaining a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

When not working in education, Curtis continues to pursue acting and is currently penning two screenplays. He loves tennis, guitar, cooking, travel, and, most of all, making his wife and kids giggle.
